South Africa is not the only initiative of the next World Cup. Zimbabwe and Namibia are also in joint initiative roles. Cricket South Africa (that country's cricket body) has identified eight venues for the World Cup. Zimbabwe and Namibia, however, have yet to finalize the field. Cricket South Africa Chief Executive Foletsi Moseki said, “We have finalized the World Cup venues after scientifically examining all aspects. Matters like certain quality hotels near the stadium, practice ground, distance from the airport have to be well negotiated. We have prioritized the fact that the cricketers do not have to travel much during the World Cup."
There are 11 ICC recognized stadiums in South Africa. Among them, Benoni, JB Marks Oval and Diamond Oval did not make the list. Three stadiums have been dropped from the World Cup list due to various difficulties. The eight stadiums selected are Wanderers in Sandton, Super Sports Park in Centurion, Kingsmead in Durban, St George's Park in Gokberhar, Boland Park in Pearl, Newlands in Cape Town, Mangaung Obal in Bloemfontein and Buffalo Park in East London.
South Africa and Zimbabwe will have the opportunity to play directly in the competition due to the initiative of the World Cup. However, Namibia will have to qualify by playing in the African qualifiers.
