'It's very difficult to beat Real Madrid twice'
Real Madrid and Manchester City have been regularly
meeting in the knockout phase of the Champions League for several seasons. It was the English champions who had the last laugh in the final fight. Now in the last eight, two teams face each other again. Pep Guardiola looks to have a tougher job this time around. City coach thinks that it will not be easy to beat Real this time.
The two teams drew 1-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals last season. After that, City only blew away Real in the return leg. Won 4-0. Guardiola's team did not let the European club stand. This time in the first leg of the last eight, the two teams will enter the field next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In the press conference before this match, Guardiola said that if they want to beat Real in two consecutive matches, they will have to give their best. "It is very difficult for the same thing to happen twice. Beating Real Madrid twice in a row will not be an easy task. They have learned from their mistakes and will want to avenge (last season's loss). They have a self-esteem. We can't just come here to control the game, we have to hurt Real Madrid, punish them, try to score goals."
City had won the Champions League for the first time since knocking out Real the previous season. But Guardiola does not want to stop here. "One Champions League win is not enough for a club like Love City."
