Delhi is the capital of India and Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting understands that IPL is a nine-match competition for them. Delhi beat Mumbai Indians on Sunday 7th April.
Out of five matches played, our Delhi Capitals came to the bottom of the league table losing four matches. There are still nine matches left. Coach Ricky Ponting's experience so far suggests that he realizes that IPL is a nine-match competition for them. Delhi beat Mumbai Indians on Sunday.
Mumbai choose Batting first, and scored 234 runs in the game that took place on Sunday. Romario Shepherd scored 39 rans off 10 balls. His innings gets Mumbai a big run after getting this big over. It showed that Delhi lost by just 29 runs. Rohit Sharma (49), Ishan Kishan (42) and Tim David (45 not out) helped Mumbai to a big run. Standing at that place, it is seen that the Delhi bowlers could not stop these runs. After losing that moment, coach Ponting said, "It's a nine-match competition for us now. We've got to win eight of those nine games. Straight reckoning."
"We will do whatever we can. We have to stand by each other. We have to fight with our heads held high. Even though we lost against Mumbai, there are some positives in this match. We are 29 runs behind," Ponting said. It is true that we lost but we managed to get close to 221 runs. 175 runs is a lot on this ground and we batted well. Before the next match we will try to improve our bowling. Not only that but it will be better.
Now it appears that Delhi's next match is on April 12. Everyone is very excited about Delhi playing against Lucknow. So Ponting wants to keep that match in mind. That's why Ponting said that he asked the team to forget all the old days and forget everything that happened and arrange everything anew, not only that, but also all the talk of the old matches, all the events.
